OBBA: Life Lines Poem

They would corner me
Far away from the supervisor
When I least expected it
And beat me
Till I escaped
Or they had had enough

I treated everyone
As an angle

But beauty was external
Money mattered
And
So did skin color

Sticks and stones
Can break your bones
But words
Can often
Do worse

They can stifle
Destroy
And mutilate
All of the beautiful
Hopeful
Things inside of us

But
If you have enough desire
To outwork the other students
And NEVER give up
You
Can win the race someday

  1. I liked your poem a lot, it made me feel more motivated about... you know, life stuff. All the stanzas had meaning to them.
